zodiac3-22009 Predictions: The Year of The Ox
(Excerpt from Eugenia Last, Toronto Sun)

The year of the Ox is just what’s needed to clean up any mess and clutter left by the Rat. The Ox is not as he appears and should not be underestimated or considered slow or unaware.

The Ox is the quintessential hardworking, conventional cleaner upper who will put everything back in order and turn chaos back into reason.

There is no room for anyone looking for a free ride during an Ox year. Hard work pays and laziness does not. It’s a plain-and-simple, cut-and-dried, yes-and-no type year. It’s a year to get papers in order and your life back on track, and to do whatever it takes to budget and plan for your financial future, lessening the stress and securing your position. Tradition will be important and keeping order and making sure that everyone plays by the rules a must.

Earth Ox – 2009
(Excerpt from Theodora Lau)

This is an enduring although less creative type of Ox who is always faithful to his ideals and principles. He becomes aware of his limitations and imperfections quite early in life. However, he will shine in any career he decides to undertake, as he is practical, industrious and prepared to pay the price demanded for success. He contributes his share willingly and will favor practical and worthy endeavors. Security and stability are his two master goals.

Although he may not be sensitive or emotional by nature, he is capable of sincere and lasting affection and will be loyal and steadfast to his loved ones.

He will fight for advancement constantly throughout his life and will endure difficulties and suffering without complaint. Purposeful and determined, this Ox will go far; it will be hard to push him back because he will never surrender captured ground. He may be the slowest but surest of all the Oxen.

Two Transcendental Cures to bring “Good Luck” from H.H. Grandmaster Lin Yun for the Chinese New Year of the Ox

Changing the Chi of the House
On the evening of New Year’s Eve or another carefully selected auspicious date, between 11pm and 1am, open all of the doors and windows that connects to the outside of the house. Prepare nine oranges, and cut nine round pieces of orange peels from each orange. Orange represents auspiciousness. In total you will have eighty-one pieces of round orange peels. Break the orange peels into small pieces and scatter them in all the rooms of the house. When scattering the orange peels, visualize that tens of thousands of Buddha’s lights are filling every corner of your house along with the orange peels. This light will evict all the evil chi, misfortunate chi, bad chi, and sick chi, and replace them with Buddha’s chi, happy chi, prosperous chi, healthy chi, and auspicious chi. make sure to do the Three Secret Reinforcements when performing this cure.

Wear or Carry a Talisman of The Rat
The wearing of an accessory with an image of the rat – this is because the rat is the zodiac sign that is the most compatible with the Ox. It is believed that when Ox and Rat come together, the joy of this encounter is enough to offset any evil that the moment may harbor. For those who choose not to associate with the rat, carrying accessories with both a snake and a rooster will serve the same purpose – this is because Ox, snake and rooster are compatible signs in Chinese astrology. The presence of these two compatible animals will serve to avert disaster, bring blessings, and attract wealth.
